MyFitnessPal's redesigned onboarding makes it easier for users to start their health journey.
MyFitnessPal's onboarding prioritises monetisation and outdated design over user experience, burying core functionality under technical glitches, a confusing interface, and aggressive promotion of premium features.
"This app is a prime example of how not to design a modern mobile experience. It's riddled with bugs, the interface is clunky and outdated, and the constant push for premium features leaves a sour taste. It feels like a relic from the early days of app development." ~ App store review
"This app feels like it was designed with little consideration for the actual user experience. From the confusing login process to the constant barrage of ads and premium features, it seems more focused on monetisation than providing a helpful tool." ~ App store review
"The app's core functionality is buried under a layer of technical issues, outdated design, and aggressive promotion of premium features. It fails to deliver a smooth and satisfying experience, even for basic calorie tracking." ~ App store review
To address user frustration with MyFitnessPal's onboarding experience, we implemented a redesign focused on prioritising user experience over monetisation. By streamlining the onboarding process and removing unnecessary steps, we aimed to create a more user-friendly and intuitive experience. This included simplifying the setup process, decluttering the interface, and minimising the promotion of premium features. Additionally, we focused on look and feel updating the design to align with modern mobile standards. The goal of this redesign is to provide a smooth and satisfying onboarding experience that allows users to quickly access the app's core functionality and start tracking their fitness goals.
